New Training Premises for ABS Academy Korea

Responding to the rapid growth in the popularity of its training courses in Korea, the ABS Academy moved to new custom built facilities in Busan earlier this year. The new training center is fully equipped with an email kiosk, digital copier, multi-media system and, for computer based workshops, each participant is provided with a notebook to carry out the hands on training exercises. The center is receiving very positive comments from those attending the courses. Chul-ho Cho of 21st Century Shipbuilding at Goseong attended the Marine Coatings – Practical Implementation of IMO PSPC training course, one of the first to be held at the new facility, and said, “It’s a great place to take a course. It has very a comfortable atmosphere.”

Crew Habitability: Reducing Human Error at Sea

In this course the designer is introduced to criteria that enable the optimization of overall shipboard or offshore installation conditions, given design constraints and budget, to more effectively support human performance, mental alertness and basic levels of comfort that promote the general well-being of crew members. This course will be delivered for the first time at ABS Academy, Singapore on 11 May.
