This course is intended to provide participants with an overview of the practical and theoretical technical operations of a generic main and auxiliary engine (diesel). It makes reference to various types of technical problems that can occur and suggests possible ways to deal with or avoid them in the first place.

• Engineering systems influencing operation

• Basic overview of inspection and maintenance

• Prevention and/or rectification of failures

   

Superintendents, port captains and technical managers with responsibility for monitoring and maintaining main and auxiliary engines.  This course meets the requirements of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects for Continuous Professional Development.
