Fundamentals of Self-Elevating MODU Structures (DES006)
Fundamentals of Self-Elevating MODU Structures
New
Course Objectives and Benefits
The ABS requirements associated with the verification of the Self-Elevating type MODU structures are detailed, and the participant is taken through the design review process to facilitate an understanding with the intent to guide them in preparing submissions for Classification.
Course Highlights
Basic Scantlings using ABS scantling formulas and applications, corrosion allowances and material grade selections Design Loads-- including operating and environmentally induced Hydrodynamics forces, equivalent hydrodynamic coefficients, combinations of wind, wave and current Design Load Cases Global Strength analysis procedure, jack-up dynamic analysis, software and Acceptance Criteria Fatigue Strength - general approach, critical locations and selection of S-N curves Ancillary and Appurtenant structures - design criteria pertinent to these local structures such as, cantilever beams and spudcans
Who Should Attend
Designers with a responsibility for structural design compliance of MODUs.This course meets the requirements of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects for Continuous Professional Development
