Course Objectives and Benefits
Studies of casualties have shown that human error is often a major contributing cause. Although proper installation, maintenance and operation of equipment can minimize the risk of a casualty, of equal signifi cance is the ability of the crew to operate a ship and its equipment in a safe manner. This course introduces the concept of a safety management system as required by SOLAS and explains each element of the IMO International Safety Management Code.
